Blog Collaboration | Late Night, Date Night - Twisted Bun Hair Tutorial

Hello, beauties! Today, I'm coming to you with another fun little collaboration. This time, the theme is date night. Several other bloggers and myself have cooked up a full head-to-toe look that will take you from doorbell to good night kiss, and have you feeling flirty and fab! I'm bringing you the hair portion of the look. I think I've got a little something that will help you feel elegant and ready to enjoy a night on the town with a person who makes you go ga-ga!

Before we get started, here are a few things you need:

(1) Brush
(1) Hair Tie
(6-8) Bobby Pins
(1) Statement Hair Clip (Optional)
and any products you may use to help tame fly aways and wispies!

STEP ONE: Brush your hair into a sleek ponytail centered on the back of your head, and secure. Easy peasy!

STEP TWO: Split your ponytail into two sections. Take one section and begin twisting it until it is fully twisted from base to tip as shown above.

STEP THREE: Wrap this first twisted section around the base of your ponytail like so. Secure with as many hair grips as needed until it feels sturdy.

STEP FOUR: Take the remaining section of hair and twist it in the same manner as you did the first, from base to tip. (And, yes, I am aware that I missed a strand. This is what I get for doing this without a mirror!)

STEP FIVE: You're almost there! Take this twisted section and wrap it around the base same as you did with the first twisted section! Secure with hair grips to your liking.

TA-DA! If you want to stop at step five, that is totally cool. But if you want to add a bit of glam, clip in some fun statement hair jewelry to really liven up the finished product! I went with this lovely rhinestone clip, but you could easily use sparkly barrettes or chopsticks.

This look is so quick and so simple, and those are two things that I love. I'm useless most of the time when it comes to hair, but if there is a way to make it look fab in five minutes or less, I'm on top of it! And the best part about this look is that when you take it down it leaves you with fantastic body and waves. So, if you want to go from polished date hair to sexy makeout hair, just pull out the pins and give your hair a little shake!

Before you head over to the other blogs for the rest of the look, I just wanted to share this little photo I took! While I was outside working on the photos for the tutorial, this little gaggle of silly gooses walked right by my porch. We have loads of wildlife right nearby, and that means there is never a dull moment outside. Was so glad I could capture them for all of you today! I know they put a smile on my face!

Now, I know you liked my tutorial, but you know you want to head over and see what my lovely fellow Spices (yes, we call our little blogging group the Spice Girls) have in store for your most perfect date look yet! Here are their links. Go give them loads of lovin'!

    1. Thank you so much, sweetie! I'm glad that you've enjoyed our collaboration! I am horrible with hair, so I'm always looking for easy ways to make it look like I've done more with it than I have! Aren't the geese just adorable? They walk by my house every day! And we'll frequently find gaggles crossing major streets nearby, and traffic will totally stop to let them all pass! It's so precious! x

  5. I dream about hair thickness like this. Your hair genes are great, haha! x

    1. Aw, thanks! Honestly, I can't stand my hair! It's so thick that it takes forever to dry, and forget about curling it! It's such a tough process that I've basically given up on doing much with it! Buns seem to be my go-to "hairstyle" these days because of it! I'd be glad to trade you! Haha! x

  6. I love this style (and the breakdown)! It looks great on you. My hair is growing and I've been experimenting with different styles that don't involve heat, so this is definitely a style I will be trying. I love the hair jewelry too; sets off the final glam style!

    1. Aw, thanks, Kimmie! If you try it, let me know how it goes! I give the hair jewelry credit to my mom! She had it lying around in her bathroom, and I snatched it up when she wasn't looking it! Haha! xx
