Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush | Pink Frosting - Review + Swatch

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush | Pink Frosting, $8.29
I have to say, I've never been one for cream blushes. With a face that is highly prone to breakouts, I've found cream products harder to work with over the high coverage products that I tend to use.  However, every time I've popped into my local Target or the drugstore down the street, Maybelline's Dream collection stops me in my tracks.

Eventually, I just couldn't take having to eye this beauty for another day, so I took the plunge and snapped one up. I remember standing in front of the display with a handful of them begging my husband to help me pick out the right one. Which, of course, was a bit silly as he truly knows nothing about makeup or colors. In the end, I decided I wanted to go for this gorgeous, girly pink (surprise, surprise), and I'm so glad I did!

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Pink Frosting is a fantastic gel-cream blush that gives you the most stunning summer flush. With its cream application and powder-like finish, it's super easy to work with. And you don't have to worry about adding too much as each coat subtly builds on the last until you get just the color you're looking for.

I like to apply this blush with my fingers. I usually just rub my ring finger on the product, and then lightly tap at the apples of my cheeks as I blend the blush out. However, I can imagine that it could also be applied with your favorite stippling brush or a makeup sponge, so give it a little experimentation.

I've found that this product works best on a well moisturized face, though I haven't had any problems applying it to my trouble dry spots. This isn't a long lasting blush, but it does stay put for several hours before needing a quick touch up. Luckily, the packaging is small, making it easy to place in your bag for on the go application.

Overall, I've found this particular Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush to be really good quality, and I would easily recommend it to anyone who might want to branch into cream blushes at a price that isn't at all cost-prohibitive. For the veteran cream blush fan, this isn't anything revolutionary, but Maybelline does have ten beautiful shades to choose from that range from corals to wines, so there is sure to be one that tickles your fancy!

Have any of you tried one of the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes? What is your favorite cream blush to reach for?

  1. I love the look of this! Candy pink and a cream to powder to formula, that's right up my street. Unfortunately here in the UK we don't have these on sale :( I was talking to my mum earlier about all the things I want to buy when I'm next in the US and it was a loooong list! Haha. Great review and gorgeous pics, how do you get your lighting so good? Any tips? I've been struggling to get good clear photos recently xxx

    1. This blush is seriously so gorgeous, and gives you the perfect schoolgirl glow! You'll have to pick it up next time you're here! As for my lighting, I take my pictures out on my back porch, so there is loads of natural light. And since I use a glass table, more light is able to come up through the surface! We have horrible lighting issues inside, so outside is the only way I can take decent shots! x

    1. Haha! They do feel a bit strange! If you click on the link in the post, there is a video tutorial on the product page that shows how you sort of leave an imprint when you use it, and then the blush "bounces back"! It's the coolest thing! x

  7. We both normally tend to like powder blushes better too. But we have tried this one and actually liked it. I have the lightest pink one, can't remember the name and I'm too lazy to get up and go look at it. But I do like it on very much with my light hair and eyes. I do have to make sure and wear a good moisturizer before I wear it though bc as you stated above it can settle into fine lines. Overall we really like this blush alot!

  12. I haven't seen this blush before, but the colour looks great on the swatch. The MAC lady told me I should try a darker blush actually so maybe I should give it ago. xx
