Scented Candle Haul

Recently I've picked up a handful of candles, and I loved them so much I felt like I just needed to show them off to all of you! As you can probably tell, I'm a huge sucker for sweet, baked goods type scents, and also fresh, fragrant flowers. These candles definitely fit the bill, and I've been loving how my home smells like I've baked tasty treats and picked flowers from the garden when I haven't lifted a finger.

First, I picked up the Colonial Candle London scent and the DayNa Decker Violetta designer candle from my local Home Goods. I've burned the London candle for a bit, and it truly does smell like you're in the bright field of poppies with Dorothy and the gang in The Wizard of Oz. Luckily, minus the wicked witch and flying monkeys, mind! I haven't had a chance to try the Violetta candle yet, but if its crazy strong violet smell is any indicator, I have a feeling that my home will be smelling like a bouquet of wild violets in no time.

Then, I had a pop over to Target and took a little stroll down their candle aisle. I was immediately drawn to the Sweet Spun Sugar, Red Velvet Cupcake and Sugar High candles. Of the three, I've been burning the Sweet Spun Sugar candle quite often, and it makes my mouth water! It smells that much like cotton candy (or candy floss for you lovely Brits)!

The Red Velvet Cupcake candle smells good enough to eat! How they were able to make it smell just like the real thing is beyond me. The Sugar High candle isn't technically a "food" scent, but it had this delectable sweetness when I took a sniff that I just had to put it in my basket.

Lastly, over the July 4th holiday, Bath and Body Works was having an enormous sale where they were selling their 3-wick candles for half off. I had a whole list of candles I wanted, but by the time I stopped in most of them had already flown off the shelves.

My husband and I scavenged over the leftovers like we were in The Hunger Games, and he came across this dreamy Espresso Bar candle, which is so strong that a whiff might actually be able to perk you up like your favorite cup of joe!  I love the smell of a pot of coffee percolating, so I can't wait to light this baby up and fill my home with sweet java deliciousness!

I'll admit it. I'm sort of a candle addict. I always tell myself I'll burn one before I buy another, and yet somehow I always seem to come home with more until my cabinets are full. I don't know how it happens! What about you, babes?

Are you candle addicts, too?  What are your favorite brands and scents?

  1. I'm a huge candle snob lol. I LOVE Bath and Body works candles. Their Christmas scents are AMAZING and definately favorite. I try to stock up on their winter scents so that I can randomly burn them throughout the rest of year haha. I've tried so many other candles but they never have as strong as a scent as Bath and Body Works does!

    1. This is actually the first Bath and Body Works candle that I've bought for myself, but I always love going in just to give them a sniff! I'm so excited to burn this one, and it is better since my husband picked it out so I won't hear any complaining about icky sweet food smells! x

  2. I love the picture you painted! Especially since there's a reference to the hunger games! I was just watching that on TV last night and literally had to drag myself away after Katniss volunteered because I knew if I kept watching, I'd end up in a crying mess, which wouldn't be the best state to be in at 3 in the morning.
I really want to try the London candle now cuz it whisks you away to the land of the wizard of oz! You make me want things I can't get...UGH xx

    1. Haha! I'm glad you liked my imagery! I definitely felt like I was going through cornucopia scraps when I saw how empty those shelves were! The London candle looks to be discontinued here, but it might be available online somewhere! It's just sweet, and flowery, and so delightful! xx

    1. The only ones I think you can't get are the Target ones and the London one as that has been discontinued. It looks like the DayNa Decker one is available online, and, of course Bath and Body Works should be available there, too! I'd imagine that a UK brand might would make some similar food scents, it just might be a bit of a search! x

    1. Thank you so much, Christina! That's such a lovely compliment! The only time my candles aren't scented are when I'm using them for the dining table or emergencies! And even then I can't promise I won't light up one of my scented ones for fun! x

  8. We have the same taste in fragrances! I LOVE baked good scents. I also have candles all over the place. I am such a "smell" person! Have you taken a gander at the "Better Homes" line at Walmart? Their wax fragrance and warmers smell heavenly! Wax is $2 and warmers $10. Check it out! The carrot cake is lovely, and pineapple cilantro is like Hawaiian vacay! Luv u girl!

    1. I have one of their warmers! The Spice Cake scent is a staple at our house! And over Christmas we melted the ones that smelled like Christmas trees! That has been one of the best investments I've ever made! Any other scent suggestions for next time I pop over to Wal-Mart? x

  9. I only just got into using candles! I've got a whole lot of them from friends and family but keep forgetting to use them! Lol. I'm more of a sweet and floral type of person, but the cupcake one sounds awesome!

    1. Welcome to the world of candles, love! I think once you get started it truly becomes a bit of an addiction! Florals are absolutely divine! Especially in the spring when you want your home to smell like fresh-cut flowers, but don't want to have to do the gardening to get them! x

  10. I have way too many candles (but usually tea lights)! I tend to save my big bad-arse ones for guests or the bath. I bought a new lavender one to help me relax in the bath before sleep, which is heavenly. x

    1. Girl, there is no such thing as too many candles! I'd save the big ones for those types of things, but they just sit there staring at me begging me to light them! Haha! I have yet to buy a lavender one, but if you feel it really helps, then I might just have to pick one up! Anything that will help a girl relax is worth having a go with, I think! x

    1. Don't get me wrong, I love incense, too! I just bought a bunch of that! And I love oil diffusers, oil burners, wax burners, plug-ins, home sprays, you name it! If it smells good, I want it! I'm truly obsessed with things that make your home smell delicious! The Sweet Spun Sugar candle has been fantastic! It said that it was a 10 hour burner, but I've easily gotten twice that already! x

    1. I don't know what got into me the other day when I went candle shopping! Anything that remotely smelled sweet went straight in the basket! Do you have any brands that you enjoy there in Denmark? You can always create your own candles to burn if you can get your hands on some essential oils! x
