Blog Goals | August 2013

Hello, beauties! How was your weekend? Mine was lovely! Full of loads of relaxing and planning new posts for you dear readers. If you didn't see the news on Twitter, over the weekend this little blog hit over 10,000 page views. As a blogger just starting out, hitting a milestone such as that this early is absolutely astonishing to me!

I would have never thought in a million years that anyone would care to read my ramblings, let alone visit the blog that often. So, thank you to each and every one of you who've stopped by, commented and subscribed. For the first time in my life I feel like I've finally found my calling, and I could not do any of it without all of you!

With that being said, lately I've been thinking a lot about goals I'd like to accomplish, but my thoughts have always been so disorganized. However, last week I stumbled across a post by the lovely Becky Bedbug which laid out her growth plan for the month of August. After giving it a read, I was inspired to take the weekend to sit down and really get a feel for what it is I, too, wanted to accomplish this month. So without further adieu, here are my goals for the month of August!

  • Keep to a specific blogging schedule. For right now, I'd like that to be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and two weekend posts a month.
  • Use my new blogging calendar to keep track of upcoming posts and duties.
  • Go back through the blog and make sure that each post is as SEO compatible as possible.
  • Participate in at least one blogger chat a week, if not two.
  • Have at least one hour per day of quality social media engagement.
  • Increase engagement numbers at a reasonable pace. See below.

While it may look like it, I didn't pick these numbers at random.  I chose each number based on the current growth of each platform, and what I thought I could feasibly accomplish by the end of the month. With a consistent schedule, proper promotion, and a little luck, I think I can get there. And with fantastic readers like all of you, I know that I can do anything I set my mind to! If you'd like to help me reach my goals, I'll leave links at the bottom of this post.

So now that I've shared my blog goals for this month, what are yours?  Let's help each other make our dreams come true!

    1. I think every blogger should have some short-term and long-term goals they'd like to achieve! It's good to have a focus and something to work towards no matter how big or small your blog is, or how new or old you are! If you decide on any, let me know! I'd love to be able to cheer you on! x

  3. As a blogger just getting started out, my set goal is to make better content. I was reading that the first 6 months your posts are not that great. I'll believe it! I'm entering month 3 (yay!) and got one follower via bloglovin so that is my biggest encouragement and helps me keep going. Also finding days to post where people can look forward to something on a set day would be great.

Great post and it's a great reminder to set goals no matter what stage you may be! <3

    1. I think creating the goals is your first step, so I'd say you are well on your way to getting there! It's so exciting that you're entering your third month! I'm entering month three, too! Definitely be proud of every accomplishment, no matter how small or large, and I think that will help you keep going now and far into the future! Glad you enjoyed the post! x

  6. An interesting concept sharing your goals! I personally aimed to improve my content and connect with other bloggers to educate myself on how I could make my posts better before I worried about followers on any platforms.. I guess this is good way too motivate yourself to stick to your blogging schedule though :)

    1. I think, for me, I tie my blog growth to how good my content is. It's almost like a marker for me to be able to properly assess what I need to work on. If I'm gaining a couple new followers a day, I feel like I'm on the right track. If I start seeing stagnation, then it's a sign that something probably needs to change with how I'm running things. I hope that makes sense!

And not all of my goals are focused on numerical growth. Those are just the easiest to chart! I definitely have a handful of other goals, which I posted, that I want to accomplish this month! I don't want you to think that I'm solely worried about followers. I'm just trying to look at a full picture, which includes growth of numbers. That's all! x

  7. This is such a great idea! Nothing beats effective goal setting. I've been learning in CBT sessions about goal setting and all sorts of established systems, I might write an Anxiety Diaries post about it? I love the goals you've set as they're attainable and realistic, and I bet they give you a good focus. I'm going to set some of my own and see how it goes! Thanks for the inspiration :) xx

  10. I'm a horrible planner. But it definitely sounds like a great idea. For the first time, I planned out and scheduled my posts for this week and I definitely feel like it's going a lot smoother. I just have a list on what I need to blog about, but setting a goal seems like a really nice idea! xx
