Murad Oil Control Mattifier - Review

Murad Oil Control Mattifier, $39.50
I have combination skin, and I don't know about others of you with skin like mine, but I still get massively oily sometimes. One minute my skin will be doing just fine, and then WHAM! My skin will become a slick, shiny mess. In the past, I'd immediately go wash my face to try and balance it back out, but some days my skin just wasn't having it.

Then I went for a Murad facial, and my skincare routine changed. After giving my skin a good once over, and my face a full, proper clean, the aesthetician suggested I try the Murad Oil Control Mattifier. From there out, this little baby has been a life saver on many a difficult skin day.

Murad's Oil Control Mattifier is my new little wonder product! I'm big into products that can do multiple things, and this one is no exception. Not only does it control oil (for up to eight hours, no less), but it contains SPF 15 to help protect your skin from harsh UVA/UVB rays. And with ingredients like willow bark extract and argan extract, this mattifier also helps to clear up breakouts, and leave skin soft and supple. Plus, it doubles (triples? quadruples?) as a makeup primer, so everything you need is all wrapped up in one little bottle!

The cream itself is nice and thick, and takes a bit of work to smooth over the skin. And while it says to apply liberally, a thin layer usually does the trick. The product has a slight chemical smell that accompanies it, but it's very light and dissipates quickly on the skin, so you won't be walking around smelling like a lab all day. Once it sinks in, your skin becomes this matte, yet moisturized, canvas ready to face the day.

The price might feel a bit steep at nearly $40, but when you're essentially getting a moisturizer, acne treatment, mattifier for both skin and makeup, sunscreen and primer in one, I feel that the cost is well justified. Imagine only having to buy the one product instead of all of those things separately! One bottle will last you quite awhile with average use, so splurging on this every now and then is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend this product and will gladly be buying it again and again!

Have you tried Murad's Oil Control Mattifier? What is your favorite product to keep your skin matte and moisturized?
