When we're dealing with loads of hustle and bustle, the last thing we want is for our makeup routine to take up any more time than necessary. To get us on our way without worry, we want quick, double duty products in our stash that can be applied in seconds and will stay all day. Cheek and lip stains are a notorious time-saving beauty mainstay. Today, we'll take a look at a cult classic stain that is sure to have you gorgeous and out the door in no time flat!

Benefit Cosmetics' Benetint is a gorgeous rose tinted (and scented) cheek and lip stain. Meant to simulate a hot, natural flush, Benetint will stay put for hours through all types of wear and tear. While it is simple to apply, just dab it on your lips or cheeks with the provided brush, I find that it's a little hard to work with. You have to work fast to blend it in, otherwise you're left with awkward looking streaks. However, once it is on, it's locked, stocked, and gorgeous!

As a cheek stain, I like it well enough. As I said before, you can't dilly dally once you apply it. It can also be awkward to work with over top of foundation. Or, at least, it was in my experience. When I'd try to blend it in, it would rub my foundation all wonky! But with a little experimenting and some careful blending, I finally got Benetint on the way I wanted. I'd imagine that it really works best on bare skin or very thin, low coverage foundations and BB creams.

I have to admit, I needed more than a couple strokes to achieve the tint that I wanted. It really isn't as strong on the first pass over as one would imagine for a cheek stain. I think it took me about three blended coats to get the nice, rosy flush that I was looking for. So just be aware that you might need to apply a few coats to get it how you want it if you're going for an intense flush.

Will I buy a full-sized version? Eh, probably not. I'm not a huge fan of stains for cheeks, and as a lip stain I'm not sure this is a shade I'd go for. However, that doesn't mean this is a bad product. Not by any stretch. I think the product itself is lovely, it's just not for me. But if you're into cheek stains and you don't have Benetint, I definitely recommend giving it a look ASAP!

Do you own Benefit's Benetint? Are you a fan of cheek stains? Which ones do you recommend?

  1. I got a sample of this in a birchbox and hated it! It has such a weird consistency and I couldn't get it to apply evenly at all :/

    1. I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad time with it. I definitely agree that it is hard to work with. It's not a beginner friendly product and takes some time to get used to. Was a bit disappointing! xx

  2. (Sorry forgot to edit lol)

I'm not a big fan of benefit cheek stain either but I think they are pretty and very pigmented. Better for summer for rosy cheek (err maybe not for winter)

    1. They are definitely pretty and pigmented once you get the hang of how to apply them! I can see why people love Benefit's lip and cheek stains so much! I agree that this is probably a better product for summer when you aren't wearing as much makeup! xx

    1. I can see where it would be a bit messy! It does run a bit when you dab it on, so you have to be extra quick to get it fixed up. Definitely not as pat and go as you'd think! xx

  4. I tend to use this as a lip stain more than a cheek one but when I can be bothered working with it, it's nice enough! xx

    1. It wasn't so bad as a lip stain, I'll admit. Though, it does have a sort of awful taste that you have to let wear off! I'll probably take to wearing this as a stain more than a cheek tint. There is nothing so gorgeous as a rosy red lip! xx

    1. Aw, well, thank you! You'd be surprised at how long it took for me to make it look that nice! It is a lovely smelling product, I'll give them that. Just sad that something so beloved is so hit or miss for so many fans! xx

  6. I've always wanted to try this, but I really didn't like Benefit's Posietint so I've never wanted to splurge on Benetint! I prefer cream of powder blushes :)

    1. I'm with you in preferring cream or powder blushes! I think they are the easiest and most user friendly to work with! I've got a review of Posietint coming up, and I can say that I think Benetint is easier to work with, if you can believe it! There must be a trick to these babies that we're missing! xx

  7. I haven't tried it but i FEEL like it just wouldn't go on right and that it's a pain to work with. Although it did look good when she applied it onto my face at the makeup counter. xxx
