Benefit Cosmetics Posietint - Review

Benefit Cosmetics Posietint, $30.00
It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of cheek stains. I love the concept, but I hate that they only seem to work well on women with flawless skin (something I sadly don't have). Setting my jealousy aside, I can't help but be drawn to beautiful pink cheek products, even if they are stains. And if they are from a trusted brand like Benefit, all the better. So despite my general misgivings towards cheek stains, I decided that it might be worth giving them another chance to change my mind.

Posietint is another of Benefit's cult classic lip and cheek tints. Coming in a blazing hot pink, Posietint is the perfect stain for those ladies who love to take a risk. Unlike Benetint's watery consistency, Posietint boasts a liquid-gel formula which makes application a touch less messy and is easier for blending. If you're a bright pink lover and willing to deal with a little trial and error, then this could be a great product for your summer face!

For me, Posietint is yet another stain that I just cannot figure out how to use properly. It's a great concept, but I don't find it to be beginner friendly. Applied over foundation it gets a bit muddy looking. Applied over bare skin and it looks patchy even after moisturizing. The tint looks really strange on my uber pale skin. It's either non-existent on a first pass, or unearthly bright on a second pass. Much like I've taken sheer neon paint to my face. I decided to forego showing you a picture of me wearing it because, our sweet lord who art in heaven, I looked like I'd drawn on clown cheeks with a hot pink highlighter. On the plus side, once Posietint is on it stays put all day so you don't have to worry about touching it up.

In the end, I don't think this is a product I'll purchase a full-size of, but I think that if one can figure out how to properly blend it to give yourself a smooth, even flush, then it could potentially be a really lovely addition to your makeup bag. I just personally like products that I have a little more control over how the application turns out, such as with cream and powder blushes. Perhaps one day I'll be able to master the art of the cheek stain, but today just isn't that day. C'est la vie.

Have you tried Benefit's Posietint? What are your tips for getting it and other cheek stains on just right?
