5 Jams to Get Fit To


When it comes to fitness, nothing makes a workout more fun than having some seriously awesome tunes to pump your body to! I think having a proper workout mix is such a huge part of getting into shape. The songs help you keep to a vigorous pace, they get your heart rate up, and can make workouts more like a dance party than a grueling annoyance. Today I'm bringing you five jams that have been fueling my workouts lately. I can't get enough of these songs, and they always make me ready to bring the heat!

1. Britney Spears - Work B**ch

This song is the epitome of a fitness jam! Not only is the message clear (ya'll betta werk!), but it's a great, hard-hitting club beat that is fantastic to run, bike, or step to. Or just dance around your room! Plus, Miss Spears looks amazing in the video and that is enough to convince anyone to get off their rear end and get their sweat on. Also, she has my dream thighs (and everything else, but I don't want to get too greedy). Guess I need to WORK!

2. Lady Gaga - Applause

Say what you want about her style choices, but Lady Gaga always makes some great bangers to workout to, and 'Applause' is no exception. It makes you feel like a diva while you're working on your fitness, and it's also fantastic for boosting your confidence both in and out of the gym. I know when I'm in need of a pick me up, 'Applause' is one of the first songs I'm turning to these days!

3. Robin Thicke - Give It 2 U (feat. 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar)

From the opening beats of this song to the very end, Robin Thicke keeps my heart rate up and always makes me want to get up and groove. This is the kind of song you want to turn up loud, grab your trusty jump rope, and just go to town. If I'm walking and this song comes on, I automatically start hitting the pavement faster, and getting that extra movement in is always a huge plus towards burning off those extra calories.

4. Daft Punk - Get Lucky (feat. Pharrell Williams)

All I should have to say is Daft Punk. Seriously, these guys know how to create serious heart pumpers! Not only do they make you want to dance, but their music puts a big goofy grin on my face every time. This funky throwback jam with Pharrell is perfect for warming up before a jog or lifting weights. And if working out and taking care of myself can have me looking as good as Pharrell at 40, I'm in! I mean, does that man ever age?

5. The Chevin - Champion

Okay, so this might seem slightly out of place as it's an alt rock jam, but it's a jam all the same! This song was the iTunes Free Song of the Week awhile back, and I always download it as it has introduced me to some great bands. This's so good! I love doing things like crunches, squats, jumping jacks and push ups to it. It's a fab song to play when you're slowing your workout down just a touch, perhaps towards the end.

These are just a few of the songs on my workout playlist. I'm all the time switching things up to stave off boredom, but we all know a good heart pumper when we hear it. What matters most is that it gets you motivated and keeps you working hard until the very last beat has faded away. Who says that workouts have to be boring?
