Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation, $5.79
Hello, beauties! I hope you've all had a fantastic week so far. One thing that signals a good week for me is knowing that my makeup game was on point. In my opinion, that begins and ends with flawless foundation application. There are so many formulas out there that miss the mark, so it is a true treat to come across one that ticks every last box, and leaves you feeling cool and confident. Especially when the product is a drugstore buy that is easy on the purse! Today we'll be looking at one such foundation that I've fallen head over heels for, and I think you will, too.

Rimmel London's Match Perfection Foundation is a little beauty I picked up on a whim. I'd been looking for a drugstore base that matches my porcelain skin and hides my imperfections, and this one had been on my beauty radar for quite awhile (and you know how fixated a girl's beauty radar can get). Touting sapphire radiance, advanced smart-tone technology, and skin protecting SPF 18, this was an easy purchase to make. After getting it home and giving it a little whirl, I might be looking at my HG high street foundation!

The first thing you'll notice is the packaging. The glass bottle gives it a much higher end feel than its budget price suggests. I will say that I was disappointed that there was no pump. A few years ago, I wouldn't have cared, and was probably applying way too much makeup as a result. However, I've become spoiled by pumps and now feel a bit let down when I come across a foundation without one. Upon opening the foundation, you'll be greeted by a gorgeously perfumed scent. I've never experienced a scented foundation before, so I found this to be a nice touch that helps set it apart from other brands. If fragrances aren't your thing, or you are sensitive to them, you'll definitely want to spend your pennies elsewhere.

The foundation itself is incredible, and I could kick myself for having waited so long to buy it! It gives gorgeous medium coverage that is easily buildable to a higher coverage. In fact, it's allowed me to forgo concealer on all except my reddest of spots. I can't tell you how nice it is to put on less products and get the same result! It doesn't cling to any of my dry patches, and it only makes my oily areas a touch oilier, which is easily remedied by applying a mattifying lotion underneath. It wears evenly, doesn't separate, and lasts a good eight hours before needing a touch up. The only negative I've found is that it looks incredibly yellow under fluorescent lights. Then again, does any foundation look good under fluorescent lights? As far as application goes, I've found that the best way to apply this particular one is with my fingers, and then going back in with a face brush to buff out any lines or harsh edges. So if you've already got this foundation and have been having trouble working with it, give that technique a go.

Overall, I'm hugely impressed with the Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation. Bases can be so hard to buy and get right, so I had been a bit skeptical. However, it has proven to be an amazing find, and one that needs to be in every woman's beauty collection! A definite must buy!

Have you tried the Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation? What is your favorite drugstore foundation?

Stay gorgeous, peaches!

  2. I haven't tried this.. I didn't like Rimmel's Wake Me Up so am scared to try other things now haha. With foundations I always tend to go for high end products.. They are the only make-up items that I always buy high end. Great review though as usual Megan :) xx
