L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation, $12.95
Hello, beauties! When it comes to our foundations, we want nothing but the very best. We expect our bases to be youthful and dewy, but still matte enough to control oil. We want them to blend to perfection, be light, yet buildable, to cover and conceal without looking like a mask, to not look cakey or patchy, and color match to our individual skin tone, you dig? With all these stringent must-haves, it's a wonder anyone finds their holy grail foundation, but that doesn't keep us from all the fun we have trying! Today, we'll be taking a look at a drugstore bargain and see how it stands up to our tests.

The L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation is a light-to-medium coverage foundation perfect for those no fuss makeup days. Boasting light infusing technology, this base is meant to give you brighter, more youthful looking skin that looks like it glows from within. It also includes vitamins C and E to help nourish your skin from the surface level. And with it being 40% water based, your skin will stay gorgeous and hydrated all day long. Plus, it also has an SPF of 20, so you'll be protected from harmful sun rays while you're out and about.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this foundation, but I really lean towards liking it. On the one hand, if you are looking for a light, dewy base, the L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation ticks all the right boxes. However, if you need a bit more coverage, it can get a bit pancakey when built up. I like that it is easy to build and blend, and it doesn't cling to any of my rogue dry patches, which are huge checks in the plus column. I also love how there are shades to suit all sorts of skin tones, including ranges for warm, neutral and cool undertones. And the fact that this comes with a pump is a heaven sent! No more over-dispensing product or having to worry as much about contamination. My recommended application would be with a buffing brush or BeautyBlender for a more flawless finish.

I think that this is a great drugstore foundation, and I definitely recommend that you give it a look. I just wish that the coverage was a bit higher without being heavy. If you have oilier skin, this could be one to go light on unless you're willing to invest in a good mattifier and oil sheets for touch ups. And if you have more redness or acne than is typical, don't totally overlook this foundation, but realize that you will need a good concealer to pair with it for optimal results.

Have you tried the L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation? What is your go-to everyday foundation?

Stay gorgeous, peaches!

  2. I love this foundation when applied lightly with a beauty sponge, but if I use a brush and build it up, it deff looks very "cakey" on me. Great review girl! :)
