Hello, beauties! Dry skin is a common issue that many of us suffer from. Whether it's dry patches on our face, parched knees and elbows, or all over tightness from hard water and the elements, we've all probably dealt with the dreaded flake-age at one point or another. A good scrub is usually a first line of defense against having flaky bits, and today I'm bringing you an all-natural one that's ready to whip your skin into shape!

The LUSH Cosmetics Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub is an exfoliating cleanser meant to help soften and renew dry skin. With sea salt to scrub, vodka and lime juice to cleanse and tone, and avocado butter and coconut oil to nourish, Ocean Salt is packed with goodies to get your skin looking and feeling it's best. And considering it's many uses and ability to be applied to the whole body, it's a time and money saver, as well.

For me, Ocean Salt was an absolute no-go when it came to exfoliating my face. My skin is quite sensitive, and this scrub made my skin burn, turn red in patches, and flake over horribly. Considering that scrubs typically make small, imperceptible tears in the skin, rubbing salt, vodka and lime juice into those miniature wounds is probably not the best of ideas. Less sensitive areas do get incredibly smooth, but the pain and tomato face make it not worth it for me.

As far as the body is concerned, Ocean Salt really does slough off dead skin with ease leaving you gorgeously silky. However, I'm not a fan of such large granules to scrub with as I find them to be a bit messy. Your mileage may vary, so don't let my personal preference put you off as it does work wonders. The area that I've found best to use this scrub is the hands. I wash with a small dollop of this each night and my hands are now baby soft! Paired with LUSH's Dream Cream and you will have younger, smoother, brighter looking hands after one use.

In the end, I think that LUSH's Ocean Salt is quite good, though not really for me. I absolutely recommend it for those who have a heartier outer layer or who like large granules as it can make your skin look and feel fantastic. Plus, the scent is amazing and reminds me of a beachy margarita for your skin. It's like a summer vacation in a jar, and you can never truly go wrong with a product that is the epitome of a Jimmy Buffett song!

Have you tried LUSH's Ocean Salt scrub? What is your favorite scrub for sensitive skin?

Stay gorgeous, peaches!

  1. I haven't tried this. I usually make homemade body scrub from brown sugar and coconut oil. It works for my dry and sensitive skin leaving it smooth and silky. Then I shower as always.

  2. Hi Megan, I was going to buy this one to use it on my face... but now I read your review I think I won't. I also have a very sensitive skin, and I don't want to put something on my face that could irritate that delicate (and so exposed) part of the body. Have you found something adequate to exfoliate the sensitive skin, particularly the face?? Carolina.-
